Urgent Care When You Need It: Same Day Dental Appointments

If you have a dental emergency during surgery hours that needs to be treated that same day, we ask you to contact the surgery between 09.00-09:30. We will try to provide you with a suitable appointment that same day.

Should you need attention during out of Hours we are part of the Local Area Emergency Dental Clinic. This is held in Craigavon Area Hospital every evening from 19:00-21:00. There are additional sessions each Saturday and Sunday mornings (and during selected holiday periods) from 10:00-12:00.

The service is reserved for genuine emergencies only such as:

  • Trauma
  • Swelling
  • Bleeding
  • Severe pain

Out of Hours Advice

If you are in pain:
● If you have pain without facial swelling we would advise the use of over the counter painkillers. Always take the advice of the pharmacist or medical professional, ensuring you inform them of any current medication or medical conditions that you may have
● Avoid hot/cold/hard foods as this may make the pain severe
● Contact us for treatment during opening hours

If your face is swollen:
● If the swelling is severe or you feel sick, you have a temperature or the swelling is affecting your swallow or breathing, you must attend your local casualty department immediately
● Swelling is usually a sign that there is infection or an abscess. If it is not an emergency dental issue, we advise you to contact us for treatment

How we work

Comprehensive Tooth Examination

Each tooth will be meticulously examined for signs of dental disease, such as tooth decay or periodontal issues.

Oral Cancer Screening

A thorough examination of both the soft and hard tissues of your mouth will be conducted to detect any abnormalities, ensuring early identification of potential concerns.

Necessary X-Rays

To facilitate an accurate diagnosis, relevant x-rays may be taken, providing detailed insight into areas not visible during a standard examination.

Discussion of Findings and
Treatment Options

Following the examination, Enda or Rebecca will discuss the findings with you, including any relevant x-rays. You will receive a detailed explanation of the available treatment options, accompanied by an estimate of the associated costs and the expected treatment timeline.
